Due to lack of money and funding, a priest decided to sell fish every day to gather money for the construction of the church in Basilan.
Fr. Silagpo dream to build a church for the Christian believers in Basilan so to make this dream come to reality, he started to sell fish to raise money for the construction of the church.
However, many people criticised him after he decided to sell fish, maybe for the reason that he’s a priest and that will not be a good thing for his image. But no one stopped his dream to build a church for the Christian believers in the midst of the Muslim community. After a year, he finally built the church.
According to KAMI, the story of Fr. Silagpo selling fish went viral last March 2017. The Filipino Scoop also learned that priest sells fish every day to raise money and build the P9 million worth church. In fact, Fr. Silagpo only started with P100,000 as it was only the fund of the church that time.
This month, the San Antonio de Padua Parish Church was finally completed and inaugurated last May 5. By his faith in God and also with the help of good-natured people, he completed the building.
Fr. Silagpo said:
“If Christ can sacrifice for His people, then, I am just doing my share to my community.”
Many expressed their admiration and give recognition to Fr. Silagpo’s effort in building the church and for his heart for the Christian believers.
Indeed, nothing is impossible to those who believed!
